In 1996, the AAPC acquired and became the chief fiduciary
sponsor of the embattled Common Ground Credit Union in Dallas.
The Credit Union under the leadership of the Economic Development was
eventually merged with the Dallas Telco Credit Union.
The AAPC has led in the reorganizing of the strained Dallas
Independent School District and the
improved relations between communities concerned with the future of the school
district.
The AAPC leads churches to participate in the Super Sunday
by taking members to the poles and voting in massive numbers during local,
state and national elections.
The AAPC Formed the African American Pastor’s Coalition
Community Development Corporation to coordinate its economic development
initiatives. In 1999, the AAPC CDC broke
ground on Unity Estates ( a 30 million 58 are master planned community) that will include 285 single family homes, a
greenbelt, and a homeowners association.
Construction on the houses began in the summer of 2000.
The AAPC co-sponsored with the Dallas Leadership Foundation
a 2-day conference on poverty.
Board Members of the AAPC have been recruited to serve on
the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors and the Dallas County
Area of the American Red Cross.
